Panasonic to Cut 15,000 Jobs
Posted on Wednesday, February 04th, 2009 at 10:23amPanasonic are planning to slash 15,000 jobs and close 27 of their plants all over the world to try and save on costs. The firm have said that they expect a net loss of £2.9bn this financial year since being hit by the credit crunch.
The job cuts represent about 5% of the firm's workforce and will be done by the end of March 2010 - half being planned to take place in Japan and the other half abroad.
And they aren\'t the only Japanese technology company which have announced cuts. There's also:
- NEC - 20,000 jobs
- Hitachi - 7,000 jobs
- Sony - 16,000 jobs
Seems very few people are safe at the moment!
