Over one and a half million of UK cats and dogs have been put down in the past year, due to Brits not being able to afford vet bills and medical costs.
According to Sainsbury's Finance, the cost of treating our dogs and cats has risen by 12% a year since 2008. They also found that 2.5m pet owners had passed up on medical treatment for their pets, due to the cost.
They have called for pet owners to take out specialist pet insurance and guard themselves from the pricey vet bills.
